The challenge

With its legacy storage subscription up for renewal, Xpeedio wanted a modern, agile platform with low latency and simple operation for a large virtual machine estate, without giving up power or features.

The solution

An AiRE IntelligentFiler 3128 that optimises each data set for its workload through intelligent profiles and policies, with always-on self-healing and point-in-time snapshots protecting Xpeedio's private cloud.

The situation

As Xpeedio faced the renewal of its legacy system subscription, the company sought a modern and agile data storage solution. It learned of STORViX through a business partner and was impressed by AiRE's flexibility, simplicity and performance in mixed-workload scenarios.

Asked what matters most when choosing a data storage solution, Xpeedio's IT manager Tomas Buckau answered: "Latency, ease of use and accessibility. We have virtual machines and a lot of them. The solution has to be simple while still being more powerful and feature-rich than a basic solution."

What was deployed

One of the main reasons Xpeedio chose an AiRE IntelligentFiler model 3128 was its flexibility in supporting mixed workloads. That flexibility rests on AiRE's ability to optimise data sets automatically for a wide range of workloads, through intelligent management of custom profiles and policies. As a result, Xpeedio can provide tailored solutions to its customers and deploy new innovations rapidly.

"We always aim to have the newest and best technology in the market so we can provide our customers with the best solution." John Josefsson, CEO and Sales Executive, Xpeedio.

AiRE's integrated data protection, with always-on self-healing and point-in-time snapshots, helps Xpeedio improve the efficiency and sustainability of its data protection process. That is crucial for high security and GDPR compliance, especially for Xpeedio's private cloud, while meeting uptime commitments to demanding customers.

What changed

AiRE's simple and consistent user experience across multiple classes of memory and mixed workloads let Xpeedio get up and running with the new solution quickly. It also lets the company "spend less time on administrative tasks, saving our team a lot of headache and enabling them to focus more on value-added activities," according to Tomas Buckau.

The icing on the cake, in line with one of Xpeedio's key requirements, is that AiRE does not compromise on performance or features to achieve that simplicity. On the contrary, its optimisation capabilities let Xpeedio tailor performance, redundancy and efficiency to a variety of workloads, such as its many virtual machines.
