STORViX AiRE and Everpure Data

Everpure Data is the company formerly known as Pure Storage, which shed that identity in February 2026 as the centrepiece of a shift from storage vendor to what it calls an Enterprise Data Cloud. If you evaluated Pure Storage previously, this is the same platform lineage — Purity, Fusion, Pure1 and the Evergreen subscription — under a new name and a broader ambition that now includes an intent to acquire the data discovery and security posture management vendor 1touch. Pure built its reputation on being the simplest enterprise array to operate, and that reputation is deserved. The comparison below is mostly about cost shape and data residency rather than about capability.

The honest version

When each is the better choice.

Presented with equal weight, because a buyer who has already spoken to the other vendor will notice if it is not.

When STORViX is the better fit

  • A large share of your capacity is cold. Tiered disk packs — hybrid, accelerated hybrid, all-flash and accelerated all-flash — let the archive sit on a cost base an all-flash platform does not offer.
  • Supplier jurisdiction matters. STORViX AB is Swedish; Everpure is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
  • You want configuration at the data set rather than the array, so archive and production data can carry genuinely different settings on one system.
  • A 7–10 year hardware lifecycle on owned equipment fits your funding model better than a continuing subscription.
  • You want an off-site archive under one supplier's terms in named EU countries, rather than assembling that separately.

When Everpure Data is the better fit

  • Operational simplicity is your single highest priority. Pure built the category reputation for this and Everpure has not abandoned it — for a team without a storage specialist, that is a strong argument.
  • Evergreen genuinely solves the refresh problem for you. Non-disruptive controller upgrades inside a subscription is a real answer to hardware ageing, and for some organisations it is a better answer than a long lifecycle on owned kit.
  • Your workload is uniformly hot. If very little of your data is cold, the tiering advantage largely disappears and an all-flash platform's simplicity wins.
  • You want the Enterprise Data Cloud direction specifically — data discovery, classification and security posture management integrated with storage is a genuinely different product ambition, and STORViX does not compete with it.
  • You are already invested in Pure1 fleet analytics and the surrounding operational tooling.
  • You need US-based support coverage and account presence at a scale a European vendor does not match.

Total cost of ownership

No TCO figure appears here. What appears instead is what would have to be true for a comparison to mean anything.

  • The comparison turns on the ratio of hot to cold data. Model your actual capacity split before comparing headline prices; an all-flash platform and a tiered one are not comparable on price per terabyte alone.
  • Evergreen is an operational subscription; owned AiRE hardware is capital with a support subscription. These land in different budget lines and different approval processes, which is often as decisive as the number.
  • STORViX publishes customer-reported compression factors of 2× and 3×. Everpure publishes its own data reduction figures. Reduction ratios are workload-dependent and vendor figures are not measured identically — treat both as indicative.
  • Neither company's published pricing is used in this comparison, because neither publishes list pricing that would make such a comparison meaningful.
