About Eteria

Eteria set out to assemble a group of specialists with strong cloud and managed security skills in early 2016 to cater to top ICT market players. The company’s team grew to around 50 people who manage services for more than 2000 companies, including major telecom and automotive multinationals active in the Italian market.

The Challenge

Eteria was looking for a new cloud storage solution that would be easy to configure and integrate with the cloud infrastructure the company provides to its customers. It was essential that the solution efficiently extended the space of this infrastructure and ensured 24/7 availability of customer VMs when needed. Eteria was also looking for a system that could deliver a maximum latency of a sub-millisecond for one of its key customers and would integrate well with Zerto. The virtual replication software helps customers accelerate IT transformation by eliminating the risk and complexity of modernization and cloud adoption. By replacing multiple legacy solutions with a single IT Resilience Platform™, Zerto combines disaster recovery, backup and cloud mobility in a simple, converged platform. With enterprise scale, Zerto’s software platform delivers continuous availability for always-on customer experience while simplifying workload mobility to protect, recover and move applications freely across hybrid and multi-clouds.

About Noventum

Noventum’s slogan, Menschen – Projekte – Qualität, reflects that the company always maintains a strong a focus on quality throughout digitalization projects that empower people with technology. The company provides a complete range of services centered around IT strategy, sourcing, technology consulting, SAP process & systems, business intelligence, HR management and culture change management. This allows Noventum consultants to guide clients to successful IT projects every step of the way, from strategy to implementation.

The Challenge

One of the challenges faced by Noventum was to improve the handling of Hyper-V virtual disks, as cluster switching was taking too long and eating up valuable time. Another time-consuming task was accurately provisioning multi-tenancy storage. Because this took time, the extra effort to provision properly was not always made, resulting in unnecessary inefficiencies.

Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences

About Royal Belgian Institute
of Natural Sciences

RBINS has enormous collections made up of approximately 38 million specimens that form an inexhaustible research resource. These ‘biodiversity archives’ are used to classify existing species and identify new ones, and to study their ecosystems. This research enables RBINS to amend policies in order to protect and preserve biodiversity. And now, with new techniques such as CT scans, isotope analysis and DNA sequencing, researchers are able to glean new information from old material on a daily basis.

The Challenge

It was also crucial that a new solution could ensure optimal performance tailored to RBINS’s fields of research and needs. This included using the system to manage virtual machines (VMs) and provide a suitable space to archive the results of simulations. As a result, the solution would also need to be easy to integrate with simulation software and VM management software.

Birra Castello S.p.A.

About Birra Castello S.p.A.

Birra Castello S.p.A. is an Italian brewery that was founded in 1997 when it took over the premises in San Giorgio di Nogaro (northeastern Italy) previously owned by Birra Moretti (1983) and Heineken Italia SpA (1996). In 2006, the company also took over the historic Pedavena brewery, which was founded in 1897 by the three Luciani brothers (Luigi, Sante and Giovanni). The brewery slowly grew, only to be robbed of its copper and partially burned down by invading Austrians in World War I. The brewery was quickly rebuilt and saw its glory days after World War II before changing hands and becoming part of the Heineken Group from 1974 until the days of Birra Castello in 2006.

The Challenge

Birra Castello also wanted to make sure the backup images on the IT servers were always available and consistent so that they would be fully prepared for any new demands. The company also introduced off-site replication with the help of Alma Pro managed services to guarantee the availability of a copy of the data for disaster recovery purposes.
